In 2017, I entered the vibrant world of Drag Kinging and since then it has become an essential part of my life. For me, being a Drag King feels natural and deeply fulfilling - both on and off the stage.

WHAT IS A DRAG KING?

Drag Kinging offers a fascinating opportunity to change one's appearance, to question visual habits and to playfully confront stereotypes. It is a bold statement, a medium of creative expression, a rich learning environment and an important contribution to 

community building. Every time I slip into a new character, I experience the freedom to rediscover myself - liberated and empowered!

MY DIVERSE PERSONALITIES

My Kings are as diverse as Drag itself! From the charismatic

Mr. Maniac and the confident Mr. B to the elegant Charlotte and the unique Gülent Gaylan. Each King is inspired by my personal experiences, social observations and exploration of so-called masculinity. Whether I'm presenting a cabaret performance, performing elegant and masculine or surprising with a humorous twist, Drag Kinging opens up a huge creative space and offers the freedom to express yourself in countless ways. I love challenging norms and showing the versatility of our identities.

WHY THIS WORKSHOP?

Workshops like this are rare! As one of the very few Drag Kings in Germany, I have been offering Drag King workshops since 2018 to share the fascination and fun of transformation - around the world! MALED IT is my chance to pass on the techniques and knowledge that have changed my life. This workshop combines acting, role work and diverse expression - a rare and valuable experience that I draw from my work as a performer and actor and want to bring ‘to the man’. Make-up techniques are also an important part and I love to see how others transform in a short space of time.

Transforming together, experimenting and being surprised not only brings a lot of joy, but also personal growth. The workshop promotes empowerment and has a political motivation. My aim is to inspire people to rediscover themselves and to awaken curiosity and playfulness. MALED IT encourages play, experimentation, physical possibilities and indescribable shared experiences.

 

HOW DOES MALED IT WORK?

The workshop consists of a theoretical and a practical part. We deal with clichés, make them tangible and then break them down in a creative way. There is plenty of room for personal development and exchange.

 

WHAT ELSE?

I will show you how to put on make-up, build a penis, what to do with breasts and how to put on a suitable beard. You will experience a physical transformation, work with your voice and learn exercises and methods from acting. You will have the opportunity to bring your own character to life and enjoy a unique group experience. It is a space for development, overcoming social norms and shedding habitual behaviour. The workshop makes entrenched norms tangible and offers space to rediscover yourself.

I offer a didactic framework that I learned in theatre pedagogy and bring in my own experience and knowledge from stage performances and previous workshops. I have spent a lot of time and attention researching and studying people to provide the best learning experience.
